Live is(n’t) Art. Film is Art. Score Music is Art.

Best-selling author and kolumnist Wladimir Kaminer is giving a reading about his most recent book “Das Leben ist (k)eine Kunst” (in English: “Live Is(n’t) Art”) at Kulturhaus Keitum this Friday, August 14th 2015! Amongst Wladimir’s greatest works were the short story series “Russendisko” which were originally published in the year 2000 and picturized later by Oliver Ziegenbalg, Arthur Cohn and Christoph Hahnheiser. The score music was composed and produced by Lars Löhn, who received great criticism by the German newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine” for instance, who wrote that ” (…) the authentic soundtrack was particularly persuasive.”

With this being said, we are excited to find out what Wladimir’s most recent work is about and we urge you to not miss this event, in case you are spending this year’s holiday on the beautiful island of Sylt.

Animation Score by L&L – “Super 4” on Disney Channel!

Animation Score by L&L – The playmobil inspired series “Super 4” has started airing on the Disney Channel.

The animation score for the 52-part series was composed by the team of LUDWIG & LOEHN.

“Super 4,” is a new CGI series inspired by respected toymaker Playmobil. The popular toy line is about to come alive in Germany. It was first seen in France in August 2014, and launched soon after that in the U.K., Italy and Latin America. Besides the renowned Disney Channel, more than 20 channels worldwide, added “Super 4” including the animation score of L&L to their daily program.

The series will follow the fun adventures of Alex the Knight, Ruby the Pirate, Agent Gene and Twinkle the Fairy. The four main heroes travel through a variety of worlds and explore distinct island communities to defeat evil and save the day. The show draws inspiration from not just Playmobil figures and themes, but also the imaginative adventures that can be explored through these toys, and the important lessons these adventures demonstrate: values such as teamwork, honesty, strength, respect and more…

The production of season 2 of “Super 4” will start in the upcoming months, containing again Ludwig & Loehn’s animation score. Besides that these new characters will also be going the way of their Lego counterparts. Playmobil has confirmed it is currently developing a feature-length film. There are plans for a Playmobil feature film, expected to be released worldwide in 2017. The content and details of these plans are still under development, but we are looking forward to this added expansion to the toy line and our animation scores.

But for now: tune in, daily at 5:34 p.m. to get a glimpse of the adventures of Ruby the pirate, Alex the knight, Twinkle the fairy and Agent Gene!

Bye Bye,Tiny Tales! We will miss you.

In October 2009, our dear friend and amazing director Florian Meimberg started a short story series on Twitter called Tiny Tales.

A year later, Tiny Tales had become so popular amongst it’s 17.000 followers, that the German Newspaper Die Welt started featuring the short stories in their content.

Now, almost 6 years later,  it appears that a thief stole the book that was kept by the newspaper’s editiorial staff to keep track of which stories had been published and which hadn’t been forcing Tiny Tales to an end…

What a pity! We will miss you, Tiny Tales.

documentary score by L&L – “Castles and Palaces of Europe” is back on Air!

Documentary score by L&L – Jeremy Fekete and Interscience Film’s great 5-part documentary series “Castles and Palaces of Europe” is back airing on various channels on TV!

No other part of the world beast as many castles and palaces as Europe. A breath-taking aerial view leads you through the palaces and summer residences, built by Kinds and Princes in the most beautiful and strategically located spots.
“Castles and Palaces of Europe” is a 5-party documentary series by director Jeremy Fekete in collaboration with well-respected director and producer Gero von Boehm. The documentary score was composed by the team of LUDWIG & LOEHN.
The series is covering 5 different regions, known for their stunning Castle – and Palace – architecture in Europe. Among these are:

Loire – France
Baden Württemberg – Germany
Southengland – GB
Piemont – Italy
Estremadura – Portugal

Lars Loehn and his team composed the documentary score to every Episode, certainly covering the typical music styles and containing music based on the traditional songs and tracks representing these particular regions. For the documentary score of the 5 x 51’min series L&L used mainly orchestral music with an interesting “David Fincher – like” dark sound and at the same time rich tonality.

Director Jeremy Fekete won the ”SILVER WORLD MEDAL 2014″ at the New York Festivals for the entire Series. Besides that we are excited to say that we are currently working on the documentary score for a similar series, called “European Parks” along with director Christian Schidlowski. As Schidlowski is a longtime partner, “European Parks“, presumably broadcasted in 2016, will be his 5th cooperation with the team of Ludwig & Loehn. Amongst others, L&L provided the documentary score for his series “Treasures of South East Asia” and “Coasts of Germany“.
